Solid state elcb
A solid state ELCB or an Electronic Residual Current Circuit Breaker is one in which there is no relay latch mechanism for its functioning.
An Earth Leakage Circuit breaker is a safety device that is used incommercial and domestic power distribution in the case of electric shock. A conventional ELCB consist of a current transformer and a relay latch mechanism which activates when there is a loss of current through earth.
A solid state ELCB or an Electronic Residual Current Circuit Breaker is one in which there is no relay latch mechanism for its functioning which is a really poor way of operation. Being an electrical component there is no need of mechanical parts and that is when the idea came of making an electronic ELCB arose.
Our proposed ELCB is an embedded system that has been developed not only for the sole purpose of isolation but also with many other features. It runs on a micro-controller and employs triac for switching. It is much effective and faster when compared to conventional ELCB.
